Approximately 4 miles away from our new build properties for sale in East Ayton is the stunning seaside town of Scarborough, a popular family holiday destination. Scarborough is the largest holiday resort on the Yorkshire coast. Not only is it a popular tourist destination, but the town also has large fishing and services industries as well as a fast-growing creative and digital economy. The town has a prestigious place in British history, which is still evident today. At the top of the eye-catching rocky promontory sits the 11th-century ruins of Scarborough Castle thought to date back to between 900 - 500 BC. The ruins divide the seafront into two bays, north and south.

The south bay is the site of the original medieval harbour and is currently the main tourist area, with a range of cafes and entertainment. Scarborough’s south bay is home to a spectacular sandy beachfront filled with amusements, arcades, and restaurants meaning there is entertainment for the whole family. Although it has moved slightly over time, the south bay is also home to the commercial town centre where the main transport hub, services, and shopping facilities can be found in addition to the vibrant nightlife.

Alternatively, the north bay has always been the more peaceful side of the resort. The standout location on the north bay is Peasholm Park, an oriental themed municipal park that is the stage for galas, displays, and exhibitions. Located across 14-hectares of land in a narrow steep-sided valley, the park is full of natural beauty where visitors can be at one with nature. Further round the north bay is the Sealife centre which is connected to Peasholm Park via a miniature railway that passes through Northstead Manor Gardens, the perfect day out for those with young children.
