What’s in Kirk Hammerton?

  • Short walks to a small number of amenities, including a primary school
  • A popular outdoor karting track just moments away from these houses for sale

Kirk Hammerton has its own convenience store and garage, and a popular Chinese/Thai restaurant all within a few minutes’ walk of the development. There are also two churches close by - St John The Bapist and Kirk Hammerton Methodist Church - and a railway station, making journeys in and out of the village simple. For those with children looking for property for sale, Kirk Hammerton C of E Primary School is less than half a mile away on foot. The school provides education to girls and boys aged between 4 and 10, with the school’s main focus being on ‘growing and learning through faith, inspiration and fun’.
For those who enjoy the thrill of karting, the outdoor Karting Nation track is just a few minutes’ walk from home. Open seven days a week, this is one of the largest circuits in Yorkshire and also one of the most popular, with 600m of action-packed challenges available for people of all abilities and skill. There are spectator areas if you would rather watch than get behind the wheel, as well as light refreshments also being available.

What will I find close to Kirk Hammerton?

  • Beningbrough Hall, Gallery and Gardens
  • Good transport links via road or rail

Located approximately 12 miles from the development is the National Trust’s Beningbrough Hall, Gallery and Gardens. This 18th century, Italian-style baroque house is a major attraction, whether visitors are coming to explore the history, appreciate the numerous art works or simply to enjoy the vast expanse of outdoor space. While the house itself has been standing for hundreds of years, little is known about the history behind its creation. What is known is that the house was occupied by the RAF during the Second World War, and in 1979, a partnership was formed with the National Portrait Gallery. This meant that a large selection of 18th century portraits could be put on display around the house, making it even more of a draw for the house’s 140,000 visitors every year. Outside the house are some truly beautiful gardens. Ideal for those with children, there are a number of activities to keep everyone in the family occupied, from bike and wildlife trails to a pre-school playroom and art workshops. And if you need to take a break for something to eat and drink, the Walled Garden restaurant has a good selection of light meals, main courses and snacks that include ingredients from the site’s well-maintained gardens.

Travel by road or rail from Kirk Hammerton is simple, with three train stations being within 5 miles of the development. From these, regular and reliable services run to York and Harrogate in around 20 minutes, and Leeds in less than an hour. You can also reach a number of other locations by train that require changes, including Manchester (1 hour 45 minutes), Sheffield (less than 2 hours) and London Kings Cross (around 2 hours 20 minutes).

Being situated around 7 miles from the A1(M) makes commutes and every day journeys by car easy. From this road - and with links to other ‘A’ roads - you can reach York (10 miles), Harrogate (13 miles), Catterick (32 miles) and Doncaster (44 miles).

What will I find beyond Kirk Hammerton?

  • The historic and popular areas of York and Harrogate
  • The Howardian Hills AONB

Property for sale in Kirk Hammerton benefits from being located close to both York and Harrogate. These are two of the most popular destinations for day trippers and holiday makers alike in this part of the UK. Both locations offer a range of attractions, including historic buildings to visit, a vast number of shopping streets for anyone who wants to get some retail therapy, and an excellent choice of restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs to stop at for something to eat and drink. You’ll also discover a large number of events throughout the year in both locations, including art exhibitions, music festivals for all genres, flower shows, and the hugely popular yearly Balloon Fiesta in York. Whatever you’re looking for in either location, you’ll be sure to find it, and so much more.

For some of the area’s most beautiful open landscape, the Howardian Hills AONB is around 45 minutes away from the development. Covering 79 sq. miles of stunning countryside, this is an ideal place to spend time relaxing with family or friends. As well as rolling hills, woods and pasture fields, there are a number of scenic villages and country houses to explore. And if you want to take part in something other than walking, there are numerous options available, including cycling, fishing, canoeing and horse riding.
