There is a good size Co-op supermarket, with a post office right next door. The Fox Inn is a family-friendly pub with a good range of food for all tastes. Less than 15 minutes away on foot from The Pitchings are the National Trust Priory Cottages. These are former monastic buildings which have been converted into two houses. Currently tenanted properties, admission to view them is only available by writing to the tenant directly and booking in advance. There is much history attached to the cottages. In 1938 they were given to the National Trust by the famous Ferguson’s Gang, a group of five women whose aim was to raise awareness of and preserve rural areas and historic buildings. Priory Cottages is just one of many buildings the group managed to save, and is an important part of Steventon’s link to the past.

This part of the South is a great location to search for property for sale. Steventon benefits from being close to the popular town of Didcot. For secondary schools, Saint Birinus School is the only boys’ state secondary school in the county, and has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. Didcot Girls School is currently rated as ‘Outstanding’. While both schools are single-sex, they both share the same sixth form for students in Years 12 and 13.

Away from the setting of town, you’ll find the stunning landscape of the North Wessex Downs just a few miles from home. Covering an area of 670 sq. miles, the landscape is made up of woodland, river valleys and vales, providing you and your family with much to discover. Each month brings a whole host of events to take part in and experience, with everything from river restorations to meadow cutting. Outdoor activities are for all members of the family, including walking trails, cycling and horse riding. A visit to any part of the Downs will mean you are close to a number of towns and villages, so you will never be far from somewhere new and different to explore.

Three train stations - Appleford, Didcot Parkway and Culham - are all within 5 miles of the development, making train travel around the south simple.
