History of Upper Rissington

Opened in 1938, RAF Little Rissington - known to all as Little Rissi - became a vital Flying Training School and Maintenance Unit during WWII. The airbase was the training ground for thousands of pilots, 705 of which received gallantry awards, and four the Victoria Cross. Since the War, Little Rissington has been the home of the Red Arrows and was the largest military contingency hospital in Europe during the Gulf War.

In a new era for this now decommissioned airbase, Linden Homes are proud to be creating Victory Fields, which will bring new homes, and enhance education, shopping and leisure opportunities for the local community.

By rail, the nearest station is at Kingham, which offers regular services to London Paddington, with a journey time of around an hour and a half. Moreton-in-Marsh railway station is also 11 miles away†. The nearest international airports are Birmingham (51 miles*) and Heathrow (70 miles*).

Victory Fields is at the heart of a beautiful part of England and an ideal location for great family days out. Just down the road in Bourton-on-the-Water, children will love Birdland Park and Gardens, and the Model Village too.
