Ashchurch: A Quiet Village on the Outskirts of Tewkesbury

There is a twice weekly market in the town, held on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with a Famers’ & Craft Market on the second Saturday of the month between February and December.

Gloucester Cathedral is a must-visit attraction, home of the Great East Window and a hugely popular television and film location. It has been used to shoot scenes for Harry Potter, Sherlock and Doctor Who. Just a short walk from the cathedral is the historic Gloucester Docks which were used for scenes in Tim Burton’s Hollywood movie ‘Alice In Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass’. You can visit The Tailor of Gloucester Beatrix Potter Museum and Shop, located in the original building used by Beatrix Potter in her story, ‘The Tailor of Gloucester’. For shopping, you’ll find the high street names in King’s Walk and Eastgate Shopping Centres, with independent retailers selling one of a kind items and gifts in The Cathedral Quarter. Just 15 minutes from the city centre, Gloucester Quays outlet centre boasts great value designer brands, a multiplex cinema, restaurant quarter and hosts a number of festivals. Gloucester also has its own range of antique shops and flea markets – perfect for unique items and collectables. The choice for food and drink is wide and varied – and perfect for foodies, home to the world-renowned Double and Single Gloucester cheeses.

Cheltenham is also another nearby day trip destination. Known as the cultural centre of The Cotswolds, Cheltenham offers an impressive range of stylish places to eat, drink and shop. Combining a fantastic mix of traditional and modern culture, there’s a huge choice of attractions, theatres, museums and points of interest – plus a wealth of culture and heritage. The recently developed ‘The Brewery Quarter’ is home to a multiplex IMAX cinema, bowling alley and many high street branded restaurants. For shopping, Cheltenham offers all the well-loved brand names and independent shops, split into quirky districts. Close by at Cheltenham Racecourse you can enjoy the Cheltenham Festival and Gold Cup, along with a number of other racing and non-racing events. With its close proximity to the Cotswolds, you can make the most of the walking, cycling, golf and horse riding opportunities on offer – as well as the numerous parks and gardens in the city itself.
