Penzance: A popular Cornish retreat

Situated close to the A30, our brand-new property for sale in Penzance offers easy access to St. Ives, Truro and Land’s End, plus a wide range of amenities. The popular seaside resort of Mousehole is also a short drive away, making this a most desirable place to call home.

Penzance is Cornwall’s most westerly major town, with a population of 21,000. Pennsans translates as ‘holy headland’ in the Cornish language, after the former St Anthony’s chapel, which stood over the headland to the west more than 1,000 years ago.

Our new homes for sale in Penzance offer the best of both worlds, with an array of amenities located nearby, while the beautiful Cornish coastline and countryside are also within easy reach. Those looking to eat out will be spoilt for choice, with a variety of pubs, restaurants and takeaways within walking distance. Art and culture lovers are also well-catered for, with several galleries, a cinema and museum nearby. Sports fans will find a leisure centre with pool and gym close by, along with football, rugby and cricket clubs. Those looking to enjoy nature can explore the pretty Penwith Heritage Coast with its quaint quays and tranquil harbours. There are Ofsted-rated schools for all age groups, and plenty of doctors’ and dentists’ surgeries in the nearby locality, including the new St Clare Medical Centre on your doorstep.

What’s close to Penzance?

Located three miles west of our new property for sale in Penzance, the tiny fishing village of Mousehole offers picturesque views and narrow streets to explore, with an abundance of tearooms, gift shops and restaurants to enjoy. The pretty harbour also has a sandy beach which is always popular with families, and the village is a thriving centre for fishing activities. During the festive season, the village is also renowned for its Christmas light display.

Those looking to take in the beauty of West Penwith’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty can enjoy walks along the coastline, and there are boat trips which take in Mousehole and nearby Newlyn Harbour, plus St Michael’s Mount.

Just 10 miles away is Land’s End, the world-famous headland, easily reachable via the A30. The most westerly point of mainland Cornwall and England, this scenic section of the Penwith peninsula is ideal for walking, and is also popular with rock climbers. The many pathways lead to some awe-inspiring views, including spectacular granite cliffs and the Isles of Scilly, which are visible on clear and sunny days. Paths overlooking the Atlantic Ocean are ideal for families, who on occasion can enjoy the sights of seals, dolphins and porpoises nearby. Historical landmarks in the area include the famous Longships Lighthouse.

Popular St Ives is located just nine miles away and was given the title of Best UK Seaside Town in the British Travel Awards for two years running. It has also been named as one of TripAdvisor’s best European beach destinations. Its four beautiful beaches – Porthminster, Porthgwidden, Harbour beach and Porthmeor - enjoy the UK’s mildest climate, while the latter offers fantastic surf. Eating out is also a pleasure, with an array of pavement cafes, historic pubs and charming restaurants scattered around the town. St Ives is especially popular with art lovers, and features numerous galleries and exhibitions all year round, the Tate Gallery being the both famous of the selection.
