Close to home, and part of ‘Poldark Country’ is the stunning village of St. Agnes and its popular Heritage Coast. St Agnes has an extensive mining history and is currently the UK’s last remaining production centre of tin. Taking a trip to the village will make for a great day out, with a good selection of independent shops, cafes and restaurants to take advantage of. There is an abundance of green, open space close to the centre of the village too, as well as St. Agnes Beacon, a historical landmark that allows visitors some stunning views of the local area and the coast. A short distance from the village is the St. Agnes Heritage Coast. Consisting of beaches, coves and clifftops, there is a lot to discover about this corner of the county. It has been a nationally designated protected area for more than 30 years, and the site protects approximately 40 different species of mammals and amphibians. Thousands of visitors come to the area every year to enjoy and experience everything this part of the Cornish coast has to offer. And with a coastal path being easily accessible, those searching for a day out with a difference will find it just a short drive away from these new build houses.

Perranporth is ideally placed for commuters who need to reach other parts of the county and beyond. The A3075 is a short drive away and allows for simple access to the A30. These roads will take you to a good number of destinations, including Camborne (12 miles), Hayle (18 miles), St. Ives (24 miles) and Bodmin (30 miles). A number of other roads connect to the A30 towards Exeter, which then connects to the M5 for Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire locations; and the A38 at Bodmin allows for easy journeys to Liskeard and Plymouth.

For rail travel, Truro station is the closest to Perranporth, at just over 6 miles away. Commuters and day trippers will find journeys to locations including Falmouth Docks and Par (both 25 minutes), Penzance (45 minutes) and Newquay (approximately 1 hour 30 minutes) simple. London Paddington can also be reached in around 4 hours 40 minutes, with a sleeper service available that takes 6 hours 30 minutes.

At only 10 miles away by car is the vibrant town of Newquay. Although fishing is now on a smaller scale, it is still active here, and many of the local restaurants benefit from a variety of fresh fish on their menus. The beaches here are probably the most popular with tourists, and there are a number of surf schools to seek out, if you want to get active for an hour or two instead of sunbathing. The town is host to a number of events during the year, including Carnival Week, a Fish Festival, Harbour Sports Day and, for those who like something a little freaky, a Halloween Zombie Crawl. Heading further into town and you’ll find a vast number of high street and independent shops, as well as cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants to choose from. Although Newquay is renowned for its vast number of watersports, other activities including walking, cycling and hiking are on offer too. For entertainment, there is a cinema and a popular theatre, where you can enjoy live music and performances all year round.

Another activity that will be a popular choice with all the family is Newquay Zoo. Located just a short walk from the centre of Newquay, there are more than 130 species of mammals and birds to discover over 5 hectares of space. Once you have seen the big cats, penguins, zebras and everything in between, the zoo also has some beautiful sub-tropical gardens to explore, as well as an Oriental garden and a Cornish dragon maze. There is a café and a restaurant to stop at for something to eat and drink, each with different menus so all tastes are catered for.

Just under 20 miles from Perranporth is the Goss Moor National Nature Reserve. With areas of dry and wet heathland, fen and open water, there is much for visitors to explore and plenty of stunning views of the local area to enjoy.
