Ollie Myrants-Wilson, Land Manager has been with the company since 2008. Here he explains his journey at Linden Homes.
"I initially joined our parent company, Galliford Try in 2008 but soon discovered a keen interest in the housebuilding division of the business. I was part of the Management Trainee scheme which gave me the opportunity to work and study for my degree in building surveying at the same time.
After spending time with each department Ollie found his calling in the Land department.
"Working in the land department has been challenging, rewarding and exciting since day one. Each site that we buy is completely different and will throw up a new challenge that we might not have faced before. The satisfaction of closing the deal and subsequently securing planning permission makes it all worthwhile.
"I've always received support and encouragement from both individual managers and the company as a whole regarding my progression; it's one of the reasons that I'm happy in my job. I'd say to anyone looking to join the company that you'll never be bored! All this, coupled with working for a well-known, successful and ambitious company has definitely cemented my loyalty."
When Georgina McCrae joined Linden Homes in 2014 as a graduate Planner she already had an appetite for the housebuilding industry:
"I studied Geography and Planning at the University of Newcastle which I really enjoyed. The Planning part of my degree was something that really appealed so I decided to follow that route once I'd graduated. I joined a Housing Association in Newcastle and after moving down to Birmingham, Linden Homes caught my eye.
"One of the things that really attracted me was the size and scope of the wider business. I had heard about some of the high-profile projects Galliford Try construction had achieved and wanted to be part of its successful housebuilding division.
"I applied for the graduate scheme which allowed me to work towards becoming a Chartered Town Planner, whilst completing the fully structured graduate development programme. I am now part of a growing Planning and Development team at Linden Homes Midlands. I really enjoy my role here, I've learnt a lot since joining and continue to progress and see others around me developing and progressing too. It's rewarding and challenging and I can honestly say no two days are the same.
Kyle King, Technical Manager, joined Linden Homes in 2016 and has been in the housebuilding industry for 12 years. Whilst at Thames Valley University College Kyle applied for a management trainee scheme and went onto obtain an HNC in Civil Engineering.
Kyle explains why he chose to come and work for Linden Homes:
"There were many things that initially attracted me to the company. The position itself was something I'd been working towards and was keen to progress to. The quality product that we design and build at Linden Homes was something I was interested in working on and has given me a new challenge.
"The support from the team and my manager is fantastic and I'm confident that my career aspirations will be met, and I can carve out a long-term career here. It's exciting to know I'm working for a successful company that is constantly striving for more."
Natalie Stevenson had a successful career in the beauty industry, but in 2010 she bought a new home and discovered a whole new career path.
"I had worked in the beauty industry for several years and wasn't really looking for a change of career but when we bought our new home I felt inspired to be part of something that was so important to people. Buying a home is not only the most expensive purchase that most people make, it's also the most emotive and working with people to find their dream home and make it all a reality is so rewarding.
"Working at Linden Homes means I'm selling a product that I'm proud of. Handing over the keys on moving in day is my favourite part of the job and it's largely because I'm confident in the quality of the homes we're building."
I'm really proud to work for Linden Homes, I receive a great deal of support, guidance and training from the senior team and feel my voice is listened to. Despite its national presence it still retains the personal ethos of a much smaller company. Everybody works hard to achieve the same goals and we're all striving to be the best."
