Triplets Holly, Lauren and Joseph Taylor, 25, have recently all flown the nest spreading their wings to Linden Homes’ Nash Mills Wharf development in Hemel Hempstead.
Apart from Joseph, who spent a short spell living away in Berlin, the triplets have only ever known living at home with their parents in their family home in North Watford. Now, Holly and Lauren will be living together in a two bed apartment with their brother close by, just one floor above, in a one bedroom apartment.
Homeowner, Holly said: “My sister had been on the lookout for places to buy for about a year. However, we have always liked the apartments and vibe at Nash Mills Wharf so Lauren had been keeping a close watch on new releases, ready for us to hopefully eventually make our move.”
After diligently saving for a couple of years and staying at home to avoid expensive renting costs, all three are now able to buy their own homes using the Help to Buy scheme.
The apartments at Nash Mills Wharf all qualify for the Help to Buy scheme* which enables buyers to purchase a new home with just 5% deposit and a 20% Government equity loan – a loan that can be repaid at any time within the first 25 years - and is interest free for five years.
“Without the use of Help to Buy we wouldn’t have been able to afford to buy our own place and we would have been saving at home for a lot longer. Buying a property has really been worth waiting for rather than falling in to the trap of renting.
“The fact that my sister and I have been saving together means we can buy sooner and it’s nice to still be living with family. As the development is so popular, it was really lucky that Joseph was also able to buy an apartment just above us.”
Since moving into their apartments, the triplets have been getting used to living away from their family home, albeit only a 20 minutes’ drive away:
“I think our move out has had more of an impact on our parents than us! I think it will take them some time to adjust but no doubt they will also be glad to have some peace and quiet and more space!
“We are really enjoying having our own space and having our friends over. We all moved in this month (June) so we were just in time to start enjoying our balconies over the summer months.
“The community that has been established at Nash Mills Wharf is great and it’s even better for me as one of my best friends also lives here. It’s lovely to be surrounded by both family and friends.”
All three work in London which is just a one hour commute from their local train station in Apsley - half a mile from Nash Mills Wharf. Holly, who works in product development, commutes to Hammersmith whilst Lauren who is a property manager and Joseph who designs window displays travel in to Hampstead and Waterloo. London Euston is also just 30 minutes away.
