The village of Welwyn is the inspiration for photographers being challenged to send in their local snaps for the chance to win total prizes worth £1,400.
Award-winning housebuilder Linden Homes Chiltern has launched the contest for people of all ages, with a closing date of Friday September 11th.
The first of two categories is “Welwyn life” for images such as treasured moments, events, landscapes or traditions. Judging will be divided into two classes: photos from children aged 11 or under, and those from older entrants.
The second category will be split in to the same age categories but with the theme of “Welwyn buildings and architecture”. This will focus on favourite local buildings from around the village and surrounding areas, whether long shots or close-ups of intricate details.
The winners aged 11 and under will win £200, with £100 and £50 for coming second and third. Winners aged 12 or more will also receive a first prize of £200, with £100 and £50 for coming second and third.
The top pictures will be framed and given pride of place at the sales and marketing suite of Linden Homes’ Wilshere Park development, a collection of high quality three, four and five-bedroom houses in Welwyn.
Simon Pendlebury, Linden Homes Chiltern Sales and Marketing Director, said: “Welwyn is a beautiful place and local residents are very proud to live here, so we’re expecting a very high standard of photos across the ages. Children are also on summer holidays so perhaps this will be a good activity to help spur creativity in the lead up to the return to the new school year.
“Wilshere Park is also surrounded by a variety of local villages full of history with ancient woodlands, old railway lines, historic houses and churches. Of course there is also nearby Welwyn Garden City which we’re sure will spark lots of inspiration so get snapping and send in your photos – we can’t wait to see them.”
The winners of the competition will also be invited to attend a special event where they will be presented with their prize, have their picture taken and see their photo on display in the sales and marketing suite.
