New Energy Efficient Development To Launch In Exeter
17 Nov 2015

Linden Homes is launching an exciting development of 350 new homes, off Tithebarn Lane in Exeter.

Named Tithe Barn, the development will comprise a stunning selection of one, two, three and four bedroom high quality homes in a village-like setting, while being close to Exeter’s thriving city centre.

The homes are being built to level four of the Code for Sustainable Homes, which will reduce energy usage and have a positive impact on utility bills for all residents. Behind this is a state-of-the-art district heating network which includes remote metering technology so homeowners can keep track of how much energy they’re using.

The district heating network benefits from lower carbon heat sources (a mixture of combined heat and power, natural gas and biomass) at one central energy centre, while each home is fitted with an interface unit, providing its heat and hot water. Not only does this ensure energy bills are lower than traditional heating systems but it’s more environmentally friendly and means each home benefits from a fully maintained and serviced interface unit for the lifetime of the scheme, supported by a team of locally based engineers.

Across the entire development, it is estimated that this new system will provide 7,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide savings per year – or the equivalent of removing 2,500 cars from the road.

Each property will also include increased levels of insulation to ensure heat loss is kept to a minimum, cycle storage and where the layout permits, a room that can easily be set up as a home office to provide flexible living and improve a home/work balance. Additionally, responsibly sourced materials will be used wherever possible.

Alison Kendall, sales and marketing director for Linden Homes, said: “We are extremely excited to be launching Tithe Barn with Aster Homes. We have received high levels of interest already and so we’re expecting the launch to be incredibly busy.

“The development offers high quality, energy efficient homes from an award winning housebuilder, located on the outskirts of Exeter with excellent transport links, so it has a huge amount to offer. We’re encouraging anyone interested to register their interest today to make sure they’re invited to the exclusive launch event.”
