New Homes For Heywood Given The Go Ahead
27 Apr 2016

Leading housing and regeneration specialist Galliford Try Partnerships and housing provider The Guinness Partnership have today been granted planning permission to deliver a residential scheme on the former Boots warehouse site in Heywood.

Galliford Try Partnerships was selected as the preferred development partner by The Guinness Partnership in 2015 and today Rochdale Borough Council approved plans that will see the company deliver 65 new homes for the area.

The three acre former Boots warehouse site, off Mary Street in Heywood, will feature 65 mixed tenure two and three bedroom homes. Of these, 37 will be affordable homes which will be built for Guinness, while 28 will be for open market sale under Galliford Try’s Linden Homes brand.

Galliford Try Partnerships will commence construction in early summer this year and the new homes will be available from Spring 2017.

Darren Leary, development director at Galliford Try Partnerships, said: “We are delighted to have received planning permission for the redevelopment of the former Boots warehouse site. We have worked very closely with The Guinness Partnership and Rochdale Borough Council in bringing the site forward and hope that this development will be the catalyst for future regeneration in the area.”

Ian Kershaw, Business Development Manager at The Guinness Partnership, said: “We are extremely pleased to be working with Galliford Try Partnerships on this project to help address the shortage of affordable homes in Heywood, and we look forward to commencing work on site in the coming months.”

Earlier this month, Galliford Try Partnerships and Guinness received approval for 37 high-quality affordable homes on a 3.4 acre site adjacent to Milnrow Road, Newbold. This scheme, welcomed by the council, will deliver a mixture of two, three and four bedroom houses on behalf of The Guinness Partnership.

Consultant Euan Kellie Property Solutions was responsible for securing the planning consent for both schemes on behalf of Galliford Try Partnerships and The Guinness Partnership.
