Grittleton Cricket Club has received some training nets thanks to The Park new homes development in Chippenham, which is being created by Linden Homes and Sovereign Housing Association, in a joint venture partnership.
The Park will provide 76 new homes on the former Westinghouse playing fields, just off Park Avenue. As part of the development, the joint venture is providing new sports facilities at Chippenham Rugby Club, including a cricket pavilion and grounds, floodlights and nets. The works are due to be completed next year but already the flood lights have been installed, changing rooms extended, training rugby pitches upgraded, and the cricket wicket laid out.
The nets at Grittleton Cricket Club have been provided as an extra gift. Commenting on the donation, Andrew Carrington, chairman of the club, said: “We are genuinely excited by the new and improved facilities that we will enjoy and we look forward to the 2018 season. I am sure that the new mobile net will benefit players, both young and old, for many years to come – including some who formerly played at Westinghouse Cricket Club.”
Sue Scholfield, sales and marketing director for Linden Homes, said: “We are pleased to provide these new nets to Grittleton Cricket Club and we’ll enjoy following their progress in 2018.” Mark Judge, development committee member at Sovereign, added: “The addition of these new nets will make a huge difference and we know they will be very much appreciated by all who use them. We wish them all the best in the next season!”
