Southampton Solent University graduate set for bright future after winning Linden Homes interior design award

This month not only saw the launch of the highly anticipated show home at Linden Home’s development, Morgan’s Field in Broughton - it also launched the interior design career of Southampton Solent University graduate, as her wallpaper design now proudly features in the five-bedroom detached show home, The Roseborne.

Abigail Burden (22) from Emsworth, was recently awarded first prize for her exceptional and exotic print designs in Linden Homes’ new interior design competition, in association with Show Business Interiors and Southampton Solent University. Her wallpaper design is now the primary focus of the first floor bedroom in The Roseborne show home.

The fifth bedroom has been designed as a creative study space, inspired by the fabrics and prints created by Abigail. Abigail focuses on hand-painted textiles with a large focus on tropical prints. The design of the wallpaper reflects the colour scheme used throughout the rest of the home but introduces a fresh injection of style.

Abigail said: “I’ve been so excited to see my first real project come to life. The wallpaper looks lovely in the room – it all feels very surreal and I’d like to extend my thanks to the Linden Homes team for giving me this opportunity.

“The concept behind the design came from my final major project when I was completing my BA at Solent University. The wallpaper focuses on tropical prints but the colour is a gorgeous stone grey. The aim was to have a visually interesting print that is also easy on the eye and creates a calm atmosphere.

“I am now studying for my Masters in textile design at Winchester School of Art and I’m really enjoying learning new skills and techniques. The project with Linden Homes has given me a great platform from which to start my career and I’m really looking forward to the future.”

The Morgan’s Field show home reflects Linden Homes’ reputation for awe-inspiring interiors with a classical theme of contemporary elements and a soft colour palette combining stone, taupe, grey and soft ivory throughout the property. The open plan design of the family space to the kitchen/diner allows the colour scheme to run seamlessly throughout the home, with a luxury feel suitable for all the family.

Morgan’s Field is located in Broughton, a quaint, picturesque village and a sub district of Stockbridge, just 10 miles north of Romsey, in the Test Valley and 4.5 miles from Stockbridge village. The development comprises a collection of three, four and five bedroom homes.

Broughton is a village known for its rural charm and picture postcard reputation, potential new home owners will be amazed by the natural beauty of their new surroundings of open fields, streams and parkland.

Jo Dixon, marketing manager at Linden Homes South, said: “Morgan’s Field is well located within the village and Broughton itself has great public transport links to nearby cities such as Southampton and Winchester. The homes have received great interest so far from potential buyers and we’ve received great feedback on the show home.

“Abigail did an amazing job working alongside Show Business Interiors. She created an excellent design that inspired the rest of the interiors for the show home. She has real talent and it’ll be amazing to watch her career grow over time. We’d like to thank Abigail for her design and working with us and we wish her all the best with her Masters.”
