Housebuilder Helps School Fete Move To Bigger And Better Home
02 Jun 2015

The summer fete held by St Michaels C of E Primary School in Steventon, Oxfordshire, is set to be bigger and better this year as it expands onto the village green, thanks to support from award-winning housebuilder Linden Homes.

For the first time the event will break out of the school grounds for a day of traditional fun, games and activities on the village green on Saturday June 20th, starting at 2pm and with live music going on into the evening.

Billed as Festival on the Green, the day will also include old fashioned mini fairground-style rides plus a selection of stalls, art & craft activities, storytelling sessions, giant inflatables, pony rides, sports demonstrations, a children's disco, and food and drink.

As well as providing a great family day out, the event will raise money to help replace the school’s old playground equipment with brand new items for the pupils.

A donation worth £1,000 to help pay for the stage and signing has come from Abingdon-based Linden Homes Thames Valley, which is delivering The Pitchings – a collection of individually designed two, three, four and five-bedroom homes about a mile from the centre of Steventon.

Emma Drozd, one of the organisers, said: “We are delighted that Linden Homes are supporting our Festival on the Green. It’s going to be a wonderful afternoon with entertainment, music, food and drink.

“We are looking forward to everyone coming along and enjoying what’s on offer. We hope that families and friends from surrounding villages will also come along and join in the fun – everyone is welcome!”

Steve Garton, Linden Homes Thames Valley sales and marketing director, added: “Village events like Festival on the Green help to make up the lifeblood of rural communities so we are delighted to join in and lend a hand.

“It’s very exciting to see the event expand from the school onto the heart of the village. The fete is clearly going from strength to strength and I hope our support brings in lots of visitors to help raise funds for the pupils’ play equipment.

“Steventon is a beautiful village with a very lively community spirit which is what makes it such a popular place for househunters. The Pitchings has already sold out on its first phase so we’re advising people to get in touch as soon as they can to avoid missing out.”
