Graylingwell Park Ticks All The Boxes For Best Friends Coral And Jacquie
06 Jan 2015

Looking to move closer to the centre of Chichester but at the same time retain the lifestyle synonymous with living in a small, yet growing community, best friends Coral Botteley, 64, and Jacquie Clarke, 73, both found their perfect homes at Graylingwell Park – just minutes away from each other!

“I was aware of the planning application for the development about 10 years ago and I knew I wanted to be closer to the city so it ticked all of the boxes,” comments Jacquie. “Both Coral and I had a strong desire to move here and coincidentally both our homes have the same number – just on different roads!

“I used to live in a three-storey town house in Eastergate, one of the outlying villages, in a community of just 18 houses, which was lovely but it did feel very secluded – the closest local amenities were about a mile away. When I step out of my home at Graylingwell Park, I feel like I’m walking out into a village, there’s a really wonderful, friendly community feel here yet I’m so much closer to the city centre.”

Jacquie purchased a two-bedroom first floor apartment with one bathroom and its own steps and private entrance from the ground floor while Coral moved into a three-bedroom house with two bathrooms.

“Jacquie was the one who recommended Graylingwell Park to me but I actually ended up moving in first,” says Coral, “I wanted to move to a totally different home to where I was living previously and the new, modern, eco-friendly properties on offer at Graylingwell Park are perfect.”

Not only do both Jacquie and Coral love the style and design of their new homes but the energy saving features make them much more cost effective. Graylingwell Park – a joint venture between Linden Homes, Affinity Sutton and the Homes and Communities Agency - is one of the largest carbon neutral sites in the UK and its homes incorporate an array of green features, such as photovoltaic roof panels, high level insulation and energy efficient appliances.

Graylingwell Park offers buyers the best of both worlds; surrounded by 85 acres of fantastic green parkland but it’s also within easy reach of Chichester city centre, which is just a mile away. For both Coral and Jacquie, its close proximity to Chichester city centre was one of the main attractions of the development, and both make use of the regular bus service, which runs every half hour from the development into town.

“My new home is economical to run not just because of the energy efficient features but I use my car less and on average I’m saving about £50 a month on petrol,” comments Coral.

“Everything is right on my doorstep, yet there is so much green space everywhere – particularly Havenstoke Park – where I walk my dog every day.”

Retired Coral is also heavily involved with the flourishing community life at Graylingwell Park.

She comments, “I think Graylingwell Park is a wonderful place to live, there’s a great amount of effort going into developing the sense of community here and it’s really working. I have been a volunteer for the Community Development Trust for six months now, it does great work, I particularly enjoyed working on the Graylingwell Heritage Project. We also have a very good Residents’ Association which makes sure our voices are heard. Overall I’m a very satisfied customer.”

“The Residents’ Association is amazing, especially considering they are volunteers,” agrees Jacquie, “I absolutely love living here and have a real feeling of contentment and belonging – Graylingwell Park is the whole package!”

As the CEO of an independent film production company in Chichester, Jacquie has less time on her hands to get involved in the various community groups at Graylingwell Park but has still managed to get to know her neighbours well.

“In the summer I sent out an invitation to some of the neighbours to meet on the green near my house for drinks,” she says, “and it was lovely! About 30 people turned up with their own drinks, tables and chairs and we had a great time. I think everyone is very willing to be part of the community here, it is a wonderful place to live.”
