Friends And Colleagues Raise A Glass To Roy And His 40 Years Service

There's seemingly no end Roy Atkins’ achievements - renowned local amateur gardener, avid fundraiser, children’s entertainer - and now celebrating four decades at Linden Homes Midlands.

Finishing foreman Roy has notched up 40 years service with the regional developer, and over that time has worked in various areas of the house building business – ranging from ground worker, forklift truck driver and customer care advisor, to name a few.

Roy began working with the company – originally known as Stamford Construction Company and then Stamford Homes before changing its name to Linden Homes Midlands – in March 1997.

He said: “I have seen many changes during my 40 years with the company, and one of the reasons I enjoy working here so much is the great sense of achievement I feel at being involved with a project from start to finish. Working on show homes at many, many developments over the years gives me great satisfaction. I have also learned, with experience, not to let things faze me when they don’t quite go according to plan the first time!”

Production director Rob Spittles added: “I speak for the whole business in congratulating Roy on his remarkable achievements and to thank him for his continued commitment and dedication to the company, and the support he shows all his colleagues and customers.”

Gifts and parties from friends and colleagues have helped Roy to celebrate his work milestone, as well as a very special gift from a colleague of a luxury train ride from Stamford to Chatsworth House – to include champagne breakfast and four-course meal.

Roy, who has lived in Stamford for 41 years, is also an avid fundraiser and has boosted cancer, animal and children’s charities by tens of thousands of pounds.

He hopes to embark on more charity efforts in the coming months as well as spending more time on his hobby of metal detecting, and planning more trips to New York – in Lincolnshire, not the Big Apple!
