Football Reaches Fever Pitch To Kick Off Armed Forces Day Celebrations
09 Jun 2016

With the Euro’s well under way – football fever is making its way to North East Lincolnshire, to kick off the region’s Armed Forces Day Celebrations.

And among the big supporters of the event is Linden Homes North, sponsors of the Armed Forces Day Festival of Football, when Cleethorpes Town Select X1 take on the teams from the Army Reserves.

Held at the Linden Homes Club in Grimsby, the fund-raising day will include stalls/ stands, BBQ, outside bar and family fun.

The festival takes place on Saturday June 18, entry is free and proceeds from £2 parking will go into the Armed Forces Day coffers.

It kicks off a weekend of celebrations on June 25/26, the focus of which this year takes place in neighbouring Cleethorpes. Armed Forces Day events will be taking place all over the country on June 25, when flags will be raised from dozens of famous buildings and landmarks.

Cleethorpes Town vice-chairman David Mann said: “This is a very prestigious event for the area and we are very much looking forward to being involved. We were first approached last year by the MOD to see if we would host the two matches and took no time in accepting their fantastic offer.”

He added, “There will be stalls, attractions, a BBQ, a beer tent and much more which will all encapsulate the spirit of Armed Forces Day. We are delighted to work with the North East Lincolnshire Council and the MOD to celebrate this fantastic week, and our thanks also to Linden Homes for supporting this event.”

Linden Homes North sales manager Julie Hubbard said: “We are delighted to support what is a fantastic event for a great cause right on our doorstep.

“Many of our staff live in and around the area and we are expecting a good turnout on the day in terms of their support. In addition, we hope to welcome many of our customers who have made their home at our developments.”

Linden Homes has a long association with the Grimsby and East Riding area and is currently building a range of four and five bedroom homes at Swanland Gardens in Swanland and at Hessle, where the Woodland Croft development boasts a selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes.
