A new housing development being built on a former primary school site in Willenhall has been completed.
The last homes for sale have now been built at Linden Homes’ Cherry Orchard development off Harry Perks Street, about half a mile north of the town centre.
A total of 48 homes have been built on the former Clothier Street Primary School site, which had been derelict since the school relocated in 2007.
Planning permission for the development, which comprises a mix of one, two and three-bedroom homes, was granted by Walsall Council in November 2015, and now one final property remains for sale.
Linda Huntington, Head of Sales for Linden Homes West Midlands, said: “We’re pleased to have finished construction work at our Cherry Orchard development, which has delivered a range of much-needed new homes within easy reach of Willenhall town centre.
“The homes have been carefully designed to complement the existing residential neighbourhood and enhance a previously derelict brownfield site, and we’re thrilled with the result.
“Cherry Orchard has proved extremely popular with buyers, particularly those taking their first steps on the property ladder. Most of the purchasers have been first-time buyers, and the majority of these have used the Government’s Help to Buy scheme to make their purchase.
“Now construction is complete, we are preparing to move off site, leaving behind a development full of stunning properties which we believe is a quality addition to Willenhall.”
