Energy Efficiency Measures Explained At Tithe Barn
02 Aug 2016

Energy efficiency measures can be confusing. It’s not always clear how new technology works and how it will affect you.

To help new residents and visitors learn more about the sustainability benefits of Linden Homes’ popular development in Exeter, the company held an energy efficiency event at Tithe Barn on Saturday 23rd July.

Tithe Barn features one, two, three and four bedroom high quality homes in a village-like setting, while being close to Exeter’s city centre. Priced from £159,950, the homes are being built to level four of the Code for Sustainable Homes, which will reduce energy usage and have a positive impact on utility bills for all residents. Behind this is a state-of-the-art district heating network which includes remote metering technology so homeowners can keep track of how much energy they’re using.

Brian Deacon, sales and marketing director for Linden Homes, said: “We wanted to give homebuyers an opportunity to learn more about Tithe Barn’s energy efficiency benefits. The district heating network is fascinating and while we’ve provided details on how it works, it’s not quite the same as someone explaining it to you in person and being able to ask questions. Kate Jenkins from E.ON was at the event and kindly ran through how the system works, discussed the potential money and energy savings and explained the environmental advantages.

“If you missed the event but would like to attend our next one, please visit Tithe Barn’s sales and marketing suite to ensure you’re added to our guest list.”

Across the entire development, it is estimated that the new system will provide 7,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide savings per year – or the equivalent of removing 2,500 cars from the road.

In addition to the district heating network, each property will also include cycle storage, increased levels of insulation to ensure heat loss is kept to a minimum and responsibly sourced materials will be used wherever possible.

Brian added: “The development offers high quality, energy efficient homes from an award winning housebuilder, it’s located on the outskirts of Exeter with excellent transport links, so Tithe Barn really does have a huge amount to offer.”
