Sapcote school children have been getting an insight in the construction industry – thanks to a visit hosted by developer Linden Homes Midlands.
Around 50 children from All Saints C of E Primary School were treated to a look around the company’s new The Limes development at Sapcote – where they had the chance to see construction vehicles in action.
Kitted out in safety helmets and hi-vis jackets, the Year 3 and 4 pupils and their teachers were able to chat to staff on the production and sales side to find out more about the process of building and buying a new home.
Linden Homes invitation to the school comes just a few weeks after The Limes received its official opening, with a tour around the stunning show home a focal point of the visit.
Linden Homes area sales manager Bev Bray said: “Whenever we start to build in a new area, we are very keen to get involved in the local community – and are delighted the school accepted our invitation to come and have a look around the development. They are the house buying generation of the future, and we hope they had an enjoyable visit.”
Teacher Sally Wagg said: “The visit forms part of the Years 3 and 4 construction of houses project, which has been on the timetable this term. The children have been constructing houses in their Design and Technology lessons – exploring design techniques, focusing on the making of roofs, chimneys and doors and used recycled boxes and paper to do this in class.
“Our thanks to Linden Homes for arranging the visit which we all enjoyed very much, the children enjoyed the chance to see these things happening in ‘real time’”.
The Limes will boast a wonderful selection of 128 carefully designed two, three and four-bedroom homes, providing plenty of housing choice for everyone from first time buyers, growing families and those looking for a smaller, more manageable property.
Many of the homes will be detached, and the development will also boast a small selection of two-bedroom bungalows – perfect for potential downsizers.
A number of homes have already been reserved off plan.
