A New Home Is An Energy Efficient Home
17 Nov 2014

The end of October 2014 saw EU leaders strike an historic climate change pact to reduce greenhouse gases across Europe by at least 40% by 2030. During the talks they also pledged to increase energy efficiency improvements.

And energy efficiency isn’t just something the politicians are talking about: It is also a growing concern for many people who are struggling to keep their homes warm – or even just keep the heating bills down.

One way to reduce the energy bills drastically is to move to a new home which can promise savings on the homeowner’s energy budget.

At Nightingale Park in Sarisbury Green, the two, three and four bedroom homes available are all created under current building regulations that mean they are six times more energy efficient than existing homes and produce over 60 per cent fewer CO2 emissions than older properties.

Andrew Reynolds, head of sales and marketing at Linden Homes Southern says the cost savings of a new build home can be substantial:

“The National House Building Council estimates that new, energy efficient homes could cut annual bills by more than half. So, a typical four bedroom Victorian house costs, on average £2,379 a year to run. The new build four bedroom equivalent costs just £1,067. A one bedroom ground floor Victorian conversion apartment will cost £915 to run – a new build equivalent just £489; so the savings are significant. And because the homes are brand new, the maintenance bills will be lower too.

“As we enter the winter months, people’s pockets are going to be squeezed with heavy energy bills, so the prospect of a new home to reduce those costs is ever more appealing.”

Each Linden Home at Nightingale Park comes with brand new, fully fitted kitchens and bathrooms. The kitchens include integrated dishwasher, washer/dryer, hob, oven and extractor fan and fridge/freezer. And all the appliances are guaranteed – as is the building. Every Nightingale Park home comes with a ten year builder’s NHBC warranty.
