Youngsters prepare time capsule to celebrate old and new

Youngsters from a nursery in Sandy, Bedfordshire, were enlisted by our Midlands region to help preserve a record of their community’s past, present and future.

Children and staff from Treetops Nursery are taking part in a time capsule challenge, as we prepare to start work on our new Kestrel Ridge development of 32 homes in Station Road on the edge of the town centre.

The youngsters will be researching and putting together a collection of items meaningful for themselves and their local area. Objects might include photos, drawings, newspapers and a Kestrel Ridge brochure, which will be carefully buried on the site later in the summer.

Nursery manager Gina Brook said: “This is a wonderful project for the children to be involved with and continues our association with Linden Homes.

“The time capsule is a great idea and we are all very excited about putting it together and burying it on the development later in the year.”

Linden Homes Midlands area sales manager Warren O’Callaghan added: “We are delighted to build on our community links with Treetops Nursery and for Sandy to be the first development where we have buried a time capsule marks an exciting time for us. We are looking forward to seeing the result of their efforts.”

Our insulation process includes blowing insulation into cavity walls, which means our homes are better insulated because there are less air gaps.

The blocks we use to build your home are the most energy efficient available and 80% of material within the blocks is recycled material - this saves heat loss from our homes and thus reduces CO2 emissions.
