The new managing director of our Eastern region is living proof of the advantages of the type of apprenticeship that launched his own career.
Based in our Chelmsford office, Trevor Dempsey’s new role will be to oversee all the regional operations, including land buying, building, sales, design and quality.
Father-of-two Trevor (36) is a strong advocate of construction training such as the Linden Homes National Apprentice Programme which supports young people to get the industry skills they need.
“I started as a site-based apprentice with Tarmac Homes,” explained Trevor. “I quickly moved to the office to become a management trainee – so I absolutely realise the benefits of apprenticeships and giving young people the chance.
“It’s sad, but in the economic downturn I believe we have lost a generation of apprentices from the construction industry. I would advise any friends and family leaving school to do an apprenticeship.”
He added: “My aim is to build a strong supply chain. There isn’t enough labour nationally at the moment and that’s a big problem for all constructors, our aim is to become the developer of choice for contractors.”
Our insulation process includes blowing insulation into cavity walls, which means our homes are better insulated because there are less air gaps.
