Staff at our North region munched their way through nearly 150 Jaffa Cakes to raise funds for a hospice in Grimsby.
A team at the head office in Hessle did their bit for St Andrew’s Hospice by paying a donation to enter the mouth-watering contest to find out who could polish off the most tasty treats in just one minute.
The proud winner was purchase assistant Gemma Clarke who chomped her way through six Jaffa Cakes. She missed her 2012 effort by just one, but was way of the world record currently held by Canadian Pete Czerwinski for eating 17!
Around £50 was collected by the directors and members of the commercial and land teams who took part – which was matched by Linden Homes to double the total.
St Andrew's Hospice does highly valued work with patients nearing the end of their lives, proving not just clinical support but emotional and spiritual help too for them and their families.
Event organiser Jade Maggs, a commercial administrator, said: “It was a lot of fun and thanks to everyone who took part. Entrants managed to munch their way through 144 Jaffa Cakes and raise a few pounds for a good cause.”
