Our zero-carbon Graylingwell Park development in West Sussex is being used to teach sustainability lessons to the construction professionals of the future.
Students from Southampton Solent University travelled to Chichester to be shown round the collection of properties, which is a joint project between Linden Homes, Affinity Sutton and the Homes and Communities Agency.
Set within 85 acres of parkland, it features a community garden and will also have an orchard, farm shop and community hall, plus commercial space and artists’ studios.
But it was the combined district heat and energy centre that the 30 students came to see in November with the senior lecturer in construction technology, Gordon Browne. It makes powering homes more efficient and cheaper for residents.
Linden Homes Guildford managing director Peter Youll said: “We’re very proud of the big part we’re playing at Graylingwell Park and it’s always a pleasure when other people come to learn the lessons from this zero-carbon development.
“It’s great that we’re getting visits not only from policy-makers like MPs, but also from the people whose expertise will help carry this sustainable way of doing things into the future.”
