Responsibility: use of solar panels is one of the ways we build sustainable homes

Our efforts to make the properties we build even more sustainable were recognised with promotion into the top 10 of a national league table of the biggest housebuilders.

Linden Homes shot up four places to number eight in the annual NextGeneration assessment, which compares how the major 25 UK developers perform in their impact on the environment, society and the economy.

The organisation aims to encourage companies to provide more sustainable homes, and is overseen by representatives from the WWF-UK and the Homes and Communities Agency.

Stephen Teagle, managing director of the affordable housing and regeneration division, said: “We are delighted to have moved up in the benchmark.

“This progress can be attributed to our ongoing commitment to building homes which are both sensitive to the environment, improving it where possible, and additionally benefitting residents through lower running costs.

“We have found real value by integrating our performance under the benchmark as part of our broader corporate responsibility assessment.”
