People often wonder what happens to the furniture in a show home after it’s sold – and at our Midlands region’s Orchid development it was donated to charity.
With its head office in Peterborough, our team has been a long-standing supporter of the city’s Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall appeal which is aiming to raise a massive £6 million for a new hospice.
Thorpe Hall provides specialist palliative care aimed at improving the quality of life for those living with, or affected by, a serious illness. The appeal has recently broken through the £2 million mark.
Linden Homes Midlands area sales manager Bev Bray said: “We often re-use our show home furniture at various other developments, but in the case of Oakham, we decided to donate it to Sue Ryder and the Thorpe Hall appeal.
“Many people in and around the area will know about the hospice and the appeal, and indeed may have been touched by its work in some way.”
Regional fundraiser Nilesh Patel said: “We are grateful for every donation we receive, and are particularly thankful to Linden Homes for their support.
“Many of the items are in pristine condition and could be used in the current hospice – any which are not needed will be donated to our shops and sold to raise more funds.”
