A tame hawk was the clever solution to the challenge of harmlessly scaring away a flock of pigeons which had taken a shine to one of our developments in Lincolnshire.
The birds had taken up residence at a home under construction at the Renaissance site near Grimsby, but no one wanted to hurt them in the process of moving them on.
Site manager Marc Carlton came up with the idea of hiring a hawk handler to frighten off the pigeons without a single one losing a feather. After a few visits, they got the message and left for good.
Marc lives locally and is one of Linden Homes’ up-and-coming employees, having recently been promoted. He is also through to the second round of the National House-Building Council’s Pride in Job Award.
Renaissance is sandwiched between rolling countryside and award-winning beaches, and is known as a flagship development in the area for showcasing top-class architectural design.
Linden Homes North managing director Ian Hessay said: “This was a really smart way of persuading the pigeons to leave without a single one coming to harm.
“Just as it’s important to us to lead the way in design and quality, we are also determined to maintain equally high standards in the way we treat the environment and wildlife.”
All of our homes come with Smart Meters. These have the capacity to automatically send readings to your energy provider.
Linden Homes has won awards for Best Sustainable Developer four years in a row.
