New sculptures have been unveiled at our Boxgrove Gardens development in Guildford using art to link the homes with the beautiful surrounding countryside.

The trio of carved shapes are by local artist Roger Day and the project was funded through planning contributions to the borough council from our local region, which is based in the town.

The oak sculptures are called ‘Connected Living’ and highlight the public right of way which passes through Boxgrove Gardens to Merrow Downs. Each has an opening to peep through, drawing the eye to the next piece and the nature beyond.

Roger also ran workshops with local residents who were able to try their hand at wood carving and create their own name plates.

Cllr Gordon Jackson, Lead Councillor for Economic Development, said: “This project highlights how Section 106 funding can be used to improve local open spaces for residents.

“The sculptures provide something for all local residents to enjoy and encourage people to make the most of the countryside at Merrow Downs.”

Linden Homes Guildford managing director Peter Youll said: “Roger’s sculptures are beautiful and deserve their place at Boxgrove Gardens, with its special and popular character.”
