New job for Martin helps community spirit flourish

New recruit: (l-r) Martin Haughey with Freshney Green site manager John Grest

New recruit: (l-r) Martin Haughey with Freshney Green site manager John Grest

A particularly community-spirited new recruit has joined our North region as it regenerates a former estate in Grimsby into the popular Freshney Green neighbourhood.

Martin Haughey was so appreciated in the former Yarborough Estate for his efforts maintaining the community centre and disused gardens that when his contract expired we offered him a job.

He was employed by housing association Shoreline, which we are working with to deliver more high quality homes – and now he has a similar maintenance role on the development working alongside Linden Homes North site manager John Grest.

Martin, who lives at Freshney Green with his partner Stacey and sons Shay (16) and Blaise (10), said: “I have seen the amazing transformation of this area and am so thrilled to be a part of this community, working alongside Shoreline Housing Partnership and Linden Homes to continue the excellent work which has seen this area turn into something truly brilliant – and a great place to bring up a family.”

Linden Homes North construction director Darron Facey said: “Martin’s commitment to the community is immeasurable and his energy and enthusiasm is infectious.”
