A mountain of sports gear has been donated by generous people up and down the country in response to Linden Homes’ Kit Up Kit Out appeal for disadvantaged youngsters in the UK and around the world.
The campaign urged the public to deliver unwanted kit to dedicated drop-off points at some of Linden Homes’ 100-plus developments located from Cornwall in the south-west to Northumberland in the north.
It has been hailed a big success after about 500 items were gathered in total. These have been passed on for distribution by the company’s charity partner, Kits 4 Causes.
Kits 4 Causes uses the shirts in football schemes in the UK that help to tackle issues such as truancy and social exclusion, as well as bringing together through sport African communities in conflict.
Linden Homes Group managing director Ian Baker said: “The huge pile of kit we’ve helped to collect demonstrates what a great success this campaign has been, and the benefit it’s going to bring to struggling youngsters in the UK and Africa through the hard work of our partner, Kits 4 Causes.
“As a leading national housebuilder we recognise that our responsibility goes beyond delivering quality homes, and extends to contributing time and money to charities and engaging with communities.”
