Galliford Try – the parent company of Linden Homes – has acquired Yorkshire-based Shepherd Homes, further expanding its business.
Under the deal, the North region of Linden Homes will take on 11 sites; six active developments and five currently in the planning stage. Approximately 60 Shepherd Homes employees will also transfer to Linden Homes.
Andrew Richards, group managing director for Linden Homes, said: “This acquisition is a positive step forward for our business and we are extremely pleased to have reached an agreement.
“We will be working closely with the existing suppliers over the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition. This acquisition bolsters our business in the North and demonstrates our commitment to this market, offering quality homes for the people of Yorkshire.”
The move reinforces Linden Homes’ strategy of controlled growth outside the south east of England – further boosted by news that the developer is to open a new office in West Yorkshire.
The new office, which will be located in Wetherby, will provide a base primarily for the company’s operations in North and West Yorkshire and is due to open in July.
Linden Homes North regional managing director, Ian Hessay explained: “The acquisition of Shepherd Homes aligns with our overall expansion plans in to West and North Yorkshire, and ties in nicely with the creation of the Wetherby office.
“Linden Homes North expects to deliver around 750 new homes a year from the two operating offices, with an annual turnover in excess of £150 million and employing over 150 staff across the two offices.
“We are looking forward to further developing the Linden Homes brand as part of the acquisition of Shepherd Homes, and sharing our ethos on housebuilding and customer satisfaction with the Shepherd Homes sales teams and our customers.”
