We joined in with our parent company, Galliford Try, to help raise more than £35,000 for charity in a non-stop cycle relay the length of Britain.
The team set off from Land’s End on June 11th and completed the event in 14 stages to arrive at John O’Groats at 5.15pm on June 14th. The cyclists covered around 981 miles in 84 hours at an average speed of 11.7mph.
The endurance effort was in aid of Cancer Research and involved about 100 employees from Linden Homes and Galliford Try.
Galliford Try Infrastructure engineering director, Jon Hodgins, who organised the event and took part in the first leg of the relay, said: “In completing the relay, we overcame a number of challenges including many steep climbs, strong headwinds and riding at unsociable hours – even through the night on some stages.”
Greg Fitzgerald, Galliford Try executive chairman, added: “Well done to everyone who took part in the cycle relay and cycled through day, night, wind and rain to raise funds for this worthy cause.”
