A hat-trick of grassroots sports in Yorkshire have scored valuable sponsorship from our North region.
The first recipient of funding allocations worth a total of several hundred pounds was Pocklington Tennis Club near York which has 100 adult members and a large junior section. The club netted £150 to put towards its running costs.
Running up its bank balance near Selby was Thorpe Willoughby Cricket Club which will put the £250 we donated towards its savings for astro turf and new practice nets.
The club also runs several football teams and is an important focal point for the village community so we have added a prize worth £100 for their fundraising draw in June.
Linden Homes North managing director Ian Hessay said: “We were very keen to donate this sponsorship because sports are the lifeblood of some communities and they connect people from miles around.
“However, clubs aren’t easy to run and they need all the help they can get so I hope the money we’ve contributed makes a real difference. Good luck to all the teams in the current and upcoming seasons!”
