Green-fingered residents got a welcome boost from our Thames Valley region when it agreed to a £1,000 grant to brighten up one of the gateways to their neighbourhood.
Members of Sonning Common’s Village Gardeners group were delighted with the funding for an improvement project near our emerging collection of superb two and four-bedroom homes.
The spot is a triangle of green at the junction of Kennylands Road and Peppard Road and is to become a welcoming sight for people arriving in the village, with shrubs and year-round flowering plants.
The £1,000 will go to the local volunteer horticulturalist group, which is led by chairwoman Chrissie Phillips-Tilbury. Its members include a professional landscape gardener and they are dedicated to making the village look as beautiful as possible.
Linden Homes Thames Valley managing director Peter Carpinelli said: “We’re very pleased to be supporting the Village Gardeners and helping them make their community bright and cheerful.
“The homes by themselves are improving the area by replacing a rather run-down site, so it’s great to be able to do even more beyond the borders of the development.”
