Good cause fires up new neighbours’ community spirit

It didn’t take long for the community spirit to get fired up at one of our new developments in Nottinghamshire where residents got together for a charity tea party and raised £150.

Neighbours at The Maples, Retford, decided to organise the afternoon on Sunday July 22 in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care, and invited friends and relatives for homemade cakes, hot drinks and a tea-themed quiz.

Linden Homes North contributed prizes and, just in case the weather turned sour, offered the use of the four-bed Deighton show home to host the event – which luckily wasn’t required.

One of the organisers, Liz Morman, said: “I’m grateful to Linden Homes and to sales executive Fiona Vivian in particular for generously providing prizes, and allowing the view home to be used as the tea party venue.

“People from the development got to know each other better while tucking into some delicious homemade cakes, having fun and raising money for an extremely good cause. It was a win-win situation!”

Linden Homes North managing director Ian Hessay added: “I’d like to congratulation all the residents for showing such generosity with their time and money. The Maples is a lovely development and its clearly developing a flourishing community too.”
