Our South West region’s third annual charity golf day raised a staggering £20,733.90 for a trio of local charities.
Sharing the huge sum raised were Devon Air Ambulance Trust, Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust and local campaign Footsteps for Louie, which aims to raise funds for a life-changing operation for a two-year-old boy from Torquay with Celebral Palsy.
The event was held at Torquay’s 18-hole golf course where as well as friendly matches there was a hole-in-one contest to win a BMW, a putting competition, a raffle and an auction.Devon air ambulance senior pilot Rob Mackie was guest speaker.
Nigel Palmer, managing director of Linden Homes South West, said: “Last year we were thrilled that our first golf day raised £18,000 and we really didn’t think we’d be able to beat that total again.
“We are absolutely delighted that this year’s event was such a resounding success – not only was it fun for everyone involved but we were spoilt with the beautiful weather and managed to raise a huge sum of money for three very worthwhile and local charities.”
