A staggering £18,000 was raised for two local charities by our South West region’s charity golf day.
The event at Torquay’s 18-hole golf course was in aid of Children’s Hospice South West and Devon in Sight and included a hole in one competition to win a BMW, a putting competition, a raffle to win an iPad and an auction.
Linden Homes South West managing director Nigel Palmer said: “Last year we were thrilled that our first golf day raised £8,000 and wondered how we’d beat that total again; we are absolutely delighted that our second charity golf day was such a resounding success.”
Children’s Hospice South West has three hospices near St Austell, Barnstaple and Bristol. Its corporate partnerships fundraiser, Naomi Dymond, said: “The event was so much fun and we were blown away with the amount of money raised.”
Devon in Sight is a local charity based in Topsham, near Exeter, which provides practical help and support to some 30,000 people affected by sight loss in a bid to encourage independence.
Its chief executive, Grahame Flynn, said: “We had a fantastic time at the charity golf day and were thrilled to be involved. We can’t thank everyone at Linden Homes enough for raising so much money and by having fun in the process.”
