Fundraisers chip in thousands at charity golf day

Fundraisers teed off in aid of an Oxfordshire children’s and young adults’ hospice at a charity golf day organised by our Thames Valley region.

We ran the event for Helen & Douglas House and succeeded in raising £5,500. It was a fitting activity because our parent company, Galliford Try, is official supplier to the 2014 Ryder Cup.

The successful get-together pitched 15 teams of our contractors and suppliers against each other in friendly rivalry on Friday July 11th at The Springs Hotel & Golf Club in Wallingford. There was a series of challenges and the day finished with dinner, awards and an auction.

Helen & Douglas House cares for children and young adults with life-shortening conditions and supports their families. The two hospice houses offer specialist symptom and pain management, medically-supported short breaks and end-of-life care, as well as counselling.

Hugh Thompson, head of major partnerships at Helen & Douglas House, said: “Helen & Douglas House relies almost entirely on the generosity of our supporters in the community. We are delighted that Linden Homes has raised this money in aid of the charity and want to thank everyone involved.”

Linden Homes Thames Valley managing director Peter Carpinelli said: “With the sum raised for charity and so many requests to repeat the charity golf day, I intend to make this an annual event.”
