A horticulture training charity has been donated £1,500 by the production team of a major film as a thank you to our Chiltern region for letting them shoot at the new King Harry Park development.

‘The World’s End’ boasts Hollywood names such as British actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost among others, and follows on from the wildly successful action comedies ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’.

As a gesture of appreciation the film crew asked us to nominate a charity and we selected the Earthworks group, which offers weekday training placements to people aged 16 and older, many of whom have a mental illness or learning disability.

They receive work experience and informal teaching in horticulture, ecology and conservation, small-scale construction, wood work and crafts.

Earthworks project coordinator Stephen Pike said: “We are very grateful to the team at Linden Homes for this kind donation.

“We are planning to start the new build in January 2013 and this donation will go towards the kitchen area which was completely destroyed by the arson attack."
