Energy-saving heating cuts carbon in Chichester

Leading: a district heating system at Graylingwell Park has helped cut a large amount of carbon

Leading: a district heating system at Graylingwell Park has helped cut a large amount of carbon

Our new development Graylingwell Park is the largest net zero carbon development in the UK. As part of the carbon neutral solution, a district heating system has been developed, which provides 37 per cent of the total carbon offset.

This is achieved by incorporating two CHP engines within the Energy Centre – in essence, large boilers that contain generators which produce not only heat but also green electricity.

Hyde Housing approached us in a bid to share information on sustainable energy generation. To assist both parties to learn from each other’s approach to sustainability, we offered Hyde Housing a tour of the Energy Centre and discussions on how the distribution network had been specified. Hyde Housing enthusiastically accepted the offer, and took up the opportunity to share its own experiences and results achieved to date.

Linden Homes Guildford technical director David Evans said: “We were thrilled to be able to engage with Hyde Housing to enable both parties to further their understanding of sustainable energy measures, and to look at ways of further improving efficiencies in the future.”
