We lived up to the What House? Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year title we won in 2014 by recycling a sales and marketing suite into a new neighbourhood facility.
The donated structure has been moved 40 miles from Gresham Mill, in old Woking, to Graylingwell Park, Chichester, where it will become The Lodge – an Ofsted-approved community centre.
It’s a joint project between the Graylingwell Park partners: Chichester Community Development Trust, local businesses and local people. The Lodge will house a pre-school, community groups and events, and other activities including yoga and dance classes, as well as being available for private hire.
Natalie Flint, sales and marketing director at Linden Homes Guildford, said: “Sustainability is at the heart of our business and what better way of enforcing this ethos than by recycling an entire building from one of our finished schemes so it can benefit another local community. It has been great to see everyone coming together to create such a great space.”
The Lodge has also provided work experience for over 100 local students and unemployed people through the Construction Community Works Projects, a social enterprise that carries out small building projects using teams of construction students from Chichester College and people on Back to Work schemes.
