Development partners celebrate new community milestone

Ribbon cutting: youngsters, residents, VIPs and developers celebrated the show home opening

The partnership behind a new community being built in Devonport, Plymouth, came together to celebrate one of the development’s latest milestones.

The new show home has been officially launched at Emerge, a collection of homes regenerating the Granby Street area. Pupils from Marlborough Primary School provided entertainment for the event, performing a haka and their school anthem.

Local people, councillors, business leaders and representatives from Linden Homes, DCH, Plymouth City Council, Plymouth Community Homes and LHC, masterplanners and architects for the scheme were also present.

The organisations have been working together on the regeneration of Devonport since 2006 and have already created award-winning local developments Gun Wharf and Evolve.

Cllr Pauline Murphy, who started the demolition works to the development back in August 2014 as the then Deputy Lord Mayor, said: “I can’t believe the transformation, not just to the site but to the whole area.”

Brian Deacon, sales and marketing director for Linden Homes South West, said: “Emerge shows what can be done when you work collaboratively and marks the final phase of Linden Homes and DCH’s work in the Devonport Development Framework.”
