Design students head to St Michael’s for inspiration

Grand designs: Linden Homes’ Tina Chalk helps the students begin their project at St Michael’s Place

Grand designs: Linden Homes’ Tina Chalk helps the students begin their project at St Michael’s Place

For the second year running, our Southern region is linking up with Southampton Solent University design students to let them show off their talents at one of our show homes.

The group will come up with ideas after visiting our St Michael’s Place development in Waterlooville where we are refurbishing a convent building into 17 beautiful apartments – to be known as Claydon House.

The course lecturers will shortlist five of the best designs whose creators will be invited to pitch their ideas to a team of judges, made up of experts from Linden Homes Southern and one of our interior design partners, Claude Hooper.

Tina Chalk, marketing manager for Linden Homes Southern, said: “The show apartment is beautiful. We chose it for this project it because it has so much character: it has very high, vaulted ceilings and huge stained glass windows.”

Glenda Strong, senior lecturer at Solent University explained: “This year we have asked the students to base their concepts on artists of their choice, so we are really excited to see what they come up with and how those influences come through in their designs.”
