As the cricket season gets underway, one club in Berkshire has been handed £1,500 by our Chiltern region to spruce up its changing rooms.
Binfield Cricket Club, which was founded in 1865 has successful senior and junior teams, now has the funds to improve the facilities at its picturesque rural ground.
Club chairman Ian Foster said: “We have a thriving colts section consisting of between 120 and 140 seven to 17-year-olds who train and play at the ground – so when Binfield CC is hosting a match, it becomes a real family affair, as parents and friends all turn out to watch the game.
“The men’s teams, which play in the Chiltern League are proud of the fact that they field teams that were 1st XI Champions in 2012 and 2nd XI Champions last year.
“Binfield CC also hosts regional visually impaired matches and junior county games. Next year the club will celebrate its 150th anniversary.”
The club is close to The Orchard, one of our developments where only three homes are left unsold.
Simon Pendlebury, sales and marketing director for Linden Homes Chiltern, said: “Settled in the tranquil village of Binfield, I am not surprised that this collection of homes has been so popular.”
