Community revamp project wins funding support

Revamped: the bright new interior at Thorpe Willoughby Children’s Centre

Revamped: the bright new interior at Thorpe Willoughby Children’s Centre

Charity workers, childcare professionals, parents and children celebrated an amazing makeover of their community centre – with a little help from our North region.

The Thorpe Willoughby Children’s Centre in North Yorkshire, which looks after around 200 youngsters a day, has taken on a new lease of life thanks to the efforts of the Selby Hands of Hope charity and its founder Wendy Singh.

We were delighted to donate towards the work of the Selby Hands of Hope which is dedicated to grassroots local causes. Wendy, local builder Paul Simpson and an army of volunteers set to work adding double-glazing, new electrics, plumbing and much more.

Wendy said: “I was asked to go along to the centre and within minutes I had a vision of what could be done. They only asked for a new front door – so to give them all this has been an amazing feat and my huge thanks to everyone who has made this possible.”

Gizzy Murray, Linden Homes connections and marketing manager, said: “Wendy and her team have done an amazing job in exceeding the expectations of everyone involved with this wonderful community project.

“With Linden Homes having strong connections in the area, we were delighted to be able to make a financial contribution towards the work.”
