We raised a staggering £8,000 from our South West region’s charity golf day in aid of the Devon Air Ambulance Trust and Rowcroft Hospice.
The fundraising event was at Torquay’s 18-hole golf course and featured a hole-in-one competition to win a BMW, a longest drive and putting competition, and a tempting raffle. It was so successful another one is already being planned for next year!
Linden Homes South West managing director Nigel Palmer said: “We’re absolutely delighted that our first charity golf day was such a resounding success. Not only was the event fun for everyone involved but we managed to raise a huge sum of money – £4,000 each – for two very worthwhile charities.”
The Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) has to raise about £4.5 million each year to keep both of the helicopters airborne. Rowcroft Hospice provides specialist care in south Devon to patients with progressive, life limiting illnesses.
“This is a fantastic amount of money,” said Fran Carnell, DAAT’s community fundraising team leader. “The support from all involved is very much appreciated and we would like to thank the team at Linden Homes for all their hard work.”
Laura Cameron, community fundraising manager for Rowcroft Hospice, added: "I hope that the staff had a great time on the golf day; what a brilliant way to support the hospice whilst having a huge amount of fun!"
