A group of businesses in Cranleigh, Surrey, has been getting into the community spirit by welcoming newcomers to the village with a hamper stocked full of gifts and vouchers.
Chris Stone, owner of garden designers Bushy Business, is the brains behind the scheme to offer the packages to buyers of the newly built houses at our Guildford region’s Swallowhurst development.
“I’m a member of Entrepreneur’s Circle and I got the idea for the hamper at one of the group’s brainstorming sessions,” said Chris. “We’ve been putting postcards through people’s doors for years, which has always worked well but we thought it would be nice to team up with other local businesses and do something a little different.”
Manns of Cranleigh, The Richard Onslow pub, Cornwell’s Celebration Cakes and Dobbe’s The Cranleigh Flower Shop all contribute to the hampers, which include craft ales, freshly baked bread, flowers, candles, a free gardening consultation and vouchers.
“Our new buyers really love receiving these hampers as they receive an introduction to some of Cranleigh’s best local businesses and services,” said Natalie Flint, Linden Homes Guildford sales and marketing director.
“But more importantly, this gesture makes them feel welcomed by the Cranleigh community and helps them feel at home.”
