The world of work appeared on the timetable at Keyingham Primary School where our North region led a lesson in construction.
Technical co-ordinator Mike Dee visited for the second year running to share some of his knowledge with the children in Years 2-6 to give them a taste of building and even some early career inspiration.
Mike gave the youngsters, who were aged between six and 10, an insight into what his job involves as well as the construction process and the importance of health and safety – which gave some of the pupils a chance to model some hi-vis work wear!
Mike said: “It was another fantastic day and a wonderful experience to share information about my job with the children, and to be able to chat with them about the role of house builders within the local community and the consideration given to the environment when drawing plans for homes.
“The children were very responsive, and the safety gear talk and demonstration seemed to be a highlight of the sessions!”
We only use composite front doors which are insulated to lessen heat loss from our homes.
